Exeter takes team trophy at Andover, Tabor meet

All twelve Exeter crews raced against Andover and Tabor today at Andover’s home course on the Merrimack River. Race times were fast across the board with clear skies, a strong tailwind, and the Merrimack’s steady current. The girls squad handily won all of their races with open water, while the boys squad struggled against very competitive Andover and Tabor crews. Overall, Exeter took first place in the points trophy, winning the David Swift trophy. Full results below:

Boys captain Isaiah Brown ’12 said he was pleased with the results against Hanover. “B2 did a great job and raced fast. B1 struggled a little more to have the same focus we did that last few weeks.” This week was challenging for all crews due to Principal’s Day on Tuesday and unfavorable tides the rest of the week. Looking forward, Brown says the varsity boys hope to “get more comfortable at higher ratings.”

Exeter wins six of eight against Kent, SPS

Eight Exeter crews raced against Kent and St. Paul’s yesterday evening on Turkey Pond in Concord, NH. Despite a last minute change in venue and unusually late race times, the meet went off largely without a hitch. Girls varsity coach Sally Morris said, “When we arrived, there were whitecaps churning down the lake in what would have been a fierce headwind, but with each minute, the winds lessened and by the time G2 raced, the lake was like glass.” All in all, Exeter crews took first place in six of eight races.
